COVID-19 - National Emergency Response by IHF

In a matter of days, the novel coronavirus upended the livelihoods of countless day labors of Bangladesh. Amidst social distancing, financial uncertainty, and economic downturn, the low-income workers are highly affected. For the daily wagers staying off work could mean having no food on the table for several days. This campaign aims to raise funds for them as they are in a high chance of facing a food crisis as well as getting infected by the virus easily due to lack of hygiene maintenance.

IHF being an organization working in distant locations of the country, intends to extend helping hand towards affected families in Sub-urban areas of Dhaka and rural areas of North-Bengal.

Predominantly, we are targeting to support 500 families (IHF students, teachers, field workers), as these families live in slums near industrial areas of Tongi and marginalized communities of Saidpur. We aim to distribute a Relief Box containing basic food supply and hygiene products per family which will be adequate to survive this pandemic situation at least for 15 days.

বর্তমানে কোভিড-১৯ বাংলাদেশের জন্য একটি জাতীয় সঙ্কটে পরিণত হয়েছে এবং ধীরে ধীরে এটি সুবিধাবঞ্চিত প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর দৈনন্দিন আয়ের উপর প্রভাব ফেলছে। তাদের সামাজিক অবস্থায় এমন নয় যে তারা লক ডাউন বা আইসোলেশন অবস্থায় আমাদের মতো ঘরে থেকে কোন কাজ করে লড়াই করে মানিয়ে নিয়ে চলতে পারবে। দৈনিক অবস্থার অবনতি সাথে সাথে দিনমজুর এই মানুষগুলোর আয়ও হ্রাস পাচ্ছে ও যা ধীরে ধীরে শূন্যের কাছাকাছি যাওয়ার অন্তরায় ।

ইতিমধ্যে, বাংলাদেশের অনেক সরকারী ও বেসরকারী সংস্থা তহবিল সংগ্রহ এবং বিতরণ কার্যক্রম শুরু করেছে। ইট্স হিউম্যানিটি ফাউন্ডেশন দেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে কর্মরত একটি সংস্থা হওয়ায় ঢাকার উপ-শহরাঞ্চল এবং উত্তর-বাংলার গ্রামীণ অঞ্চলে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ পরিবারগুলির জন্য সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করছে।

আমরা ৫০০ পরিবারের (আই.এইচ.এফ. শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক, মাঠকর্মী) মাঝে খাবার ও স্বাস্থ উপকরণ সরবরাহের লক্ষ্য নির্ধারণ করেছি।

আপাতত আমরা এই মহামারী পরিস্থিতি থেকে বাঁচতে কমপক্ষে ১৫ দিনের জন্য এই শিশুদের পরিবার প্রতি মৌলিক খাদ্য সরবরাহ এবং জীবাণুনাশক সামান্য কিছু পণ্য সম্বলিত একটি ত্রাণ বাক্স বিতরণ করার পরিকল্পনা করেছি ।

Each Relief Box is of BDT 1580 and will contain:

Rice - 15 kg
Lentils- 5 kg,
Salt- 1 kg
Soyabean Oil- 1 litre
Potato - 5 kg
Flattened Rice- 1 kg
Jaggery - 1kg
Dettol Antiseptic liquid- 50 ml
Lifebuoy Soap bar
Napa - 10 tablets
Orsaline - 10 packets
Detergent Powder - ½ kg
