IHF Empowerment Program- "Protibha"
IHF’s sustainable project – “Protibha”
Protibha provides free profession training to marginalize families to ensure the financial security by sewing, stitching and craft training in the Rural and Sub-urban communities. The motive behind Protibha is to empowers families nationwide through developing crafting skills and commercializes their handmade products globally. Our broader vision is to generate sufficient income to make our mother organization IHF financially sustainable.
Protibha focuses on keeping the dying arts of Bangladesh alive. One of the prominent art that Protibha promotes is Rickshaw Art. It’s a dying art of Bangladesh that has been declared as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. We at Protibha are trying to keep the art alive by incorporating it in daily home wares in mediums such as ceramic, glass, steel and tin. Our products are very popular among the expats and elite community of Bangladesh.
Protibha also promote recycling and up-cycling in Bangladesh. Protibha is currently working on setting up a Recycling Innovation Lab which will be a sustainable solution for the community.
As a social enterprise, Protibha believes in and works for women empowerment. Currently, we have a training centre in Tongi Dhaka, where 8 women are being trained on basic cutting and stitching. These women will be entrepreneurs either working for Protibha or for themselves. Besides, the Tongi training centre, 2 other training centres are on process in Board Bazar, Gazipur and Saidpur, Nilphamari.
