Beyond the Classroom: When Students Turn Compassion into Action : IHF X International School Dhaka (ISD)
International School Dhaka, in collaboration with It’s Humanity Foundation, has undertaken a washroom construction initiative at Panchkhola Primary School by IHF—aimed at improving sanitation and hygiene facilities for students while reflecting a shared commitment to community wellbeing and dignity.
There are moments when change doesn’t come from policies or large institutions, but from the hearts of young individuals who choose to care—and act. One such inspiring story unfolded through the initiative led by Grade 8 students of International School Dhaka, who turned empathy into meaningful impact for the children of Panchkhola Primary School.

What began as a classroom thought evolved into a mission. The students recognized a fundamental need which is safe and hygienic washroom facilities and decided to take responsibility for creating that change. Instead of waiting for external support, they chose to act.
Through small but heartfelt initiatives, including homemade food sales and student-led fundraising activities, they mobilized resources on their own. Every effort reflected not just creativity, but a deep sense of ownership and compassion.
At It’s Humanity Foundation, we believe that access to proper sanitation is not a privilege it is a basic right. For the children of Panchkhola Primary School, this initiative goes far beyond infrastructure.
A safe and hygienic washroom means dignity. It means better health, improved attendance, and a more comfortable learning environment—especially for young girls who often face barriers due to inadequate sanitation facilities.
This project stands as a reminder that education is not just about classrooms and books; it is also about creating an environment where every child feels safe, respected, and cared for.
The inauguration day was not just a formal event it was a celebration of connection and shared purpose.
On 21st April, 2026 The students from International School Dhaka joined us on-site, bringing with them not just their presence, but their energy, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm. They spent time with the children, shared conversations, laughter, and moments that bridged backgrounds and experiences.
It was in these small interactions that the true spirit of the initiative came alive—young people standing together, learning from one another, and building empathy that goes beyond textbooks.
This initiative is a powerful example of what education should strive to be. It reflects values that no exam can measure—empathy, responsibility, leadership, and social awareness. By taking ownership of a real-world issue, these students experienced firsthand what it means to create impact. They didn’t just learn about change rather they became a part of it. Such experiences shape not only better students, but better citizens of the world.
At IHF, we often speak about sustainable change and community-driven impact. What these students have demonstrated is that age is never a limitation when it comes to making a difference. Their actions have created a ripple, one that will continue to influence not only the children of Panchkhola Primary School but also everyone who hears this story. It reminds us that meaningful change often begins with a single step, a simple idea, and the courage to act on it.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to International School Dhaka (ISD) and its incredible Grade 8 students for this initiative. Their commitment, creativity, and compassion have transformed a need into a lasting solution. More importantly, they have set an example. One that inspires others to look beyond themselves and contribute to a better, more inclusive future.
Because in the end, it is not just about building facilities. It is about building hope, dignity, and a generation that believes in making a difference.
